MUNGE

Install MUNGE the same way as the controller:

sudo apt install munge libmunge2 libmunge-dev

Check it installed correctly:

munge -n | unmunge | grep STATUS

Again, you should see STATUS: SUCCESS.

You still need to copy the controller node's key to this node — replace this node's munge.key at /etc/munge/ with the controller's.

On the controller, copy the key to your home directory first:

sudo cp /etc/munge/munge.key munge.key
sudo chmod 600 munge.key

On the controller, copy the key to this worker's admin user:

scp munge.key jrcai_admin@<worker_ip>:~

On this worker, copy the key into the MUNGE directory:

sudo cp munge.key /etc/munge/munge.key

Once munge.key is swapped out, fix permissions:

sudo chown -R munge: /etc/munge/ /var/log/munge/ /var/lib/munge/ /run/munge/
sudo chmod 0700 /etc/munge/ /var/log/munge/ /var/lib/munge/
sudo chmod 0755 /run/munge/
sudo chmod 0700 /etc/munge/munge.key
sudo chown -R munge: /etc/munge/munge.key

Start the MUNGE service and enable it at startup:

sudo systemctl enable munge
sudo systemctl restart munge

Investigate service errors with:

sudo systemctl status munge

Or:

sudo nano /var/log/munge/munged.log

Test the MUNGE connection to the controller node:

munge -n | ssh server02 unmunge

If this succeeds, you should see the MUNGE status of the controller node.
