NFS

Hostname & FQDN

Show hostname:

hostname

Show FQDN:

hostname -f

Edit hostname:

sudo nano /etc/hostname

Edit FQDN and known hosts — make sure this node and the LDAP/NFS server can ping each other by FQDN and short name:

sudo nano /etc/hosts

Example:

127.0.1.1 jrcai01.jrcai.lan jrcai01
10.22.188.12 jrcai01.jrcai.lan jrcai01

NFS Shared Storage (Client)

sudo apt install rpcbind nfs-common

Make the directory to mount from the network:

cd /hdd
sudo mkdir slurm_users
cd slurm_users/
sudo mkdir home
sudo chmod 777 /hdd/slurm_users/home

Mount manually (temporary, for now):

sudo mount 10.22.154.19:/hdd/slurm_users/home /hdd/slurm_users/home

Make it persistent by editing /etc/fstab:

sudo nano /etc/fstab
10.22.154.19:/hdd/slurm_users/home /hdd/slurm_users/home nfs rw 0 0

After editing /etc/fstab, refresh with:

sudo mount -a

Note

You also need to add this node's IP to the export list on the NAS itself — it's a separate device, not the Controller (which mounts this same share as a client too).
